Fix that worked for us:

1. Run outlook with “outlook.exe /resetnavpane”

Then clear the autocomplete cache
Outlook 2010 -> “Outlook.exe /CleanAutoCompleteCache”
Outlook 2007 – Delete the outlook.nk2 file

Excel – The file is currently in use. Try again later.

-On client disable explorer Preview Pane (Organize -> untick Preview Pane)
-On client disable indexing of save location (Win7)

Windows Server 2008 R2 File Restore Limit

It seems when restoring files from a Windows 2008 R2 backup you are limited to 1000 files restore in one go. MS suggests you restore a parent directory or fewer files. Selecting a parent did not work. Simple solution is to break up your restores in less than 1000 file batches. Went through fine after that.

Not sure why the limit is in place though.
